Yes, I’m Still Here
Hey guys, I’m sure a few a of you have been wondering where I’ve been these past few weeks. The reason I haven’t been updating my blog is that I wasn’t seeing a good ROI in comparison with the amount of time I was spending on this blog. I’ve also been doing a lot of reading online which has led me to the conclusion that while social blogging can be fun (which is pretty much what I was doing), it isn’t very rewarding in the long run.
To be honest, blogging is probably the worst way to make money online. You need to have a lot of free time and dedication to run a successful blog, and as you’ve probably seen, many other bloggers have started to realize this and so they have really cut down on their posting. (Take ThouShallBlog.com for an example, the last post was on April 29 and the one before that on April 13. Or, TheUniversityKid.com, Jason sold his blog )
Don’t get me wrong here; this blog was where my online journey began and it has helped me network tremendously and learn new skills, but I just don’t think I will be posting as often as I used to (which wasnt’ much either, hehe). I’ll still use this use blog to network, make friends, and as a tool to leverage other sites/tools of mine, but that’s mostly it. (I might post other types of articles, but let’s just wait and see how things go.)
I just wanted to let you guys know what was going on since I didn’t really think it would be fair to just leave you hanging there without any idea of what happened to me. Oh, and theBlogoholic.com did sell for those of you wondering! (For a cool $1,000—not bad for my first site flip, eh?)
You’ll be seeing a post in these next few days that will give you a general idea on how to make money with Squidoo and the post will also promote this eBook on a site of mine. The main reason of the post will be to help me boost that site in Google for the keyword I’m targetting, but if you feel like buying the eBook please, go ahed.
It’s been quite a time since I’ve had some interaction on this blog, so if you’ve got any questions please feel free to ask

wow, $1000, congratulation for you sales
so blogging is the worst way to make money online huh?
hmm ….
glad you finally have some ‘profitable areas’ to enjoy doing with.. looking forward to hear more from you
I haven’t flipped any site. How many hours did you put into it (approximation) ?
If you’re not blogging anymore, how are you making money online now?
It is a shame if you find that blogging has become boring or a chore. I think the majority of us have discovered this problem at some point.
Maybe the best way is to scale back on the amount of time you dedicate to the blogs so you don’t ‘burn out’?
Heh. I always saw lots of articles around about how blogging is a great way to make money, but always thought to myself “I’ve done some blogging, and what all these articles say doesn’t make sense. There’s no way all this effort can be rewarding.” But now I have my answer.
Actually even though you might not think so, this post is pretty useful because it lets everyone know that using a blog purely as a money-maker is BS, despite what some people might claim.
Just Popped in from DP after seeing your latest site for sale.
You are kind of at the same place I am Rajaie. The blog was useful before to network, and it was really a great thing to do, but since other people that you knew have slowed down blogging, and new bloggers have been taking over the market, then it’s harder to find interest in just regular blogging.
I have tried some new sites too and new methods, and they seem to work better for making money online, but like you I will try to update on my blog once in a while for networking.
You are right about giving lot of time to make your blogging successful and that is the way to make money online and many people are making money through this.
Novickarija – I’m sure there are worse ways, but I’m just saying that it isn’t the easiest.
Melvin – Thanks.
Make Money Online – I remember it being online for about two months, but I’ve got no idea how many hours I spent on it from those two months.
Al – I’m giving AdSense a go.
Dean Saliba – It’s not that I find it boring or a chore, it’s just considering my blog was a “make money online” blog and I wasn’t making much money online, I had to take a break from blogging and start making some real cash.
Alex – Well, you can make a ton of money blogging if you know how to do it right and have the patience (just look at all the huge blogs), but most people just starting out are looking for quick cash.
Nathaniel – I’ll definitely update this site every once in a while, but as to who often that will be…..
kitchen taps – Actually, a lot less people are making money blogging than you’d imagine.
$1,000 is a really cool figure. Pretty nice job. Looking forward for more of your posts here Rajaie.
wow….congrats bro…..when i get like that?
Rajaie, I am looking forward for more of your posts here.
are you going to sell this blog? i don’t think you will, hehe….
I found this post useful because sometimes I wonder whether all the hours I put in on my blogs and my clients’ blogs are going to be worth it. Having said that, I’ve just started out and still in learning-mode. It is amazing though how much time blogging takes when you’re using it as a means to make money online. I think the way to go is to not lose hope, and just keep blogging until you’ve built up to a decent manageable level, and then re-assess after, say, 12 months. That’s what I’m going to do. Two of my sites will then become profitable membership sites – hopefully!
Keep posting tips, looking forward to them.
Still any updates? I think the selling is now taking big part of his time.
Haha Rajaie I agree with you man. Blogging requires too much works. That is why on my blog, you will never see me update unless it’s necessary.
Blogging for dollars is really dying these days huh?
i think you can earn money from blogging but this is not means blogging do only for earn money,it is a hobby also..
I want to know now your are not blogging any more then how you making money online?
That’s a pretty neat number! I disagree with Desmond Ong about blog dying, the competition is just going tough that’s all.
It’s good to know you’re still around, it’s been a while since you last posted. Good to hear that you made $1k from blogaholic.com, that’s pretty cool!
I agree, actually. Traditional blogging simply isn’t likely to make much money. SEO blogging, on the other hand…. well. That works.
I’m sorry to hear that the blog wasn’t profitable enough for the time put into it. I totally agree that operating a successful blog takes a huge amount of time. By putting too much time into the blog, you end up not having time to make your other projects successful. Best of luck with your other projects Rajaie.
“blogging is probably the worst way to make money online” – Totally agree with you on this. I have a weight loss blog that I poured a lot of time into and made peanuts compared to what I’m doing now.
Congrats on the 1000 profit from the site flip. I’m thinking of trying to sell mine again, the name alone is worth it for someone trying to sell weight loss products. But I just don’t want to see it go that route.
Steve
I am wanting to blog over the internet but still with some privacy. For instance, i can place MySpace private. I am looking for a website of blogging. I only know Xanga, but i do not know how well it works.
Great to see you’re back Rajaie! Between, sell your blog in $1000 is a quite attractive amount, congrats! I’m keen to see your next post regarding make money with squidoo soon.
Regards,
Lee
You still there? It’s been a month buddy… Guess, you are enjoying all the money that you got out of flipping blogoholic.
Hey Ajith,
I’m still here, just figuring out my priorities…
Well we all look forward to more posts when you can fit them in. Have you thought about doing guest posts to help with the content writing time?
Blogging is worse? But its the level of interaction that brings you satisfaction.
