Questions Answered – Session One
Thanks to everyone that asked a question, if you have any suggestions for future question and answer sessions, feel free to leave a comment below.
Keshav asked:
Hi Rajaie, Well the first thing i would like to ask is, how do you pronounce your name?
It’s pronounced “Rajaee”. The “a” is pronounced like the “a” in the word “car”, and the double “e” like the “y” in the name “Johny”.
Jason asked:
Can you tell me your full name, your school, your address, your telephone number, the name of any chick(s) you dig, and what your favourite colour is? Hope those questions aren?t too personal
Seriously though – what do you think of say, guest posts?
You couldn’t resist could you?
I personally love the whole concept of guest posts, they give your blog some free exposure and make you well known around similar blogs in your niche. Although, the results are not that great every time, I believe that it depends on the readers of the blog you’re guest posting on, but I sure wouldn’t mind doing a guest post over at Problogger
I don’t really know what the possibility of getting your post accepted is, but I have never personally tried to find out.
Otooo asked:
1. What do u consider better (more profitable, more enjoyable, easier to do) – would it be flipping heaps of sites for short term profits or maintaining a few high quality sites/blogs and maintaining a residual income from them?
2. What do u think is the best way of promoting blogs and gaining SERPS?
1. It really depends on the person involved, for example, I prefer building a few high quality websites and maintaining a monthly income from them rather than flipping a few everyday for some quick profit. Flipping tons of websites for short term profit might be easier and more enjoyable since you don’t have to stick to a certain topic for a long period of time, but in my opinion they can never be as profitable as a few high quality long term websites. Also, building a fewer websites and regularly updating them and networking with people in their niche will eventually make you an authority and well known in that specific area which brings along several advantages with it as well.
2. This question could actually be turned into an entire series of posts! But to sum it up, you can promote your blog through commenting on other blogs, guest posting, posting on forums, running a contest, and tons of other ways! As for improving SERPS, these will gradually increase as your site gains more authority in the search engines, but you can also help by linking to your blog using specific anchor text, commenting on related do-follow blogs, and using the header and bold tags within your posts.
kidfingers asked:
How did you get into the ?young entrepreneurship? field at such a young age? My blog at the age of 14 would probably have been about sports or music, I would have never thought of being an entrepreneur.
I guess that I owe it all to my previous mobile blog. I started it without knowing anything about blogging and in time I eventually got frustrated since it wasn’t going as I had planned. Then I found Problogger and everything else seemed to just fit into place after that. I lost interest in mobiles and starting learning and reading more about blogging and internet marketing. Not only that, but the things I learn know will benefit me in the future as well, so it’s a win-win situation for me
Lucas asked:
What do you consider first when choosing a web host?
People tend to look at tons of different things when choosing a webhost, the bandwidth, amount of databases, storage space, and especially the price they’ll be paying. I take all those into account before choosing a webhost, but the most important thing to me is positive reviews from other people that haven’t stuffed their article with their affiliate link. This tells me that they are truly pleased with their hosting provider and would recommend it to others. I actually found out about Doreo (my current hosting provider) from DailyBlogTips.com, and I’m very happy that I chose them to be my host.
axioblogger asked:
I am still amazed at your post, How I Got A PageRank 3 In Less Than 2 Months.
My question is how did you figure out this plan?
I didn’t really figure it out, the information was already available on the Internet, all I did was put it into action, something that many people fail to do. When you read a post that tells you how to increase your subscribers, don’t just read it and go to the next one, implement the methods described to find out if they will work for you.
Ryan McLean asked:
What do you think is the best way to make money online when you are starting out?
Would it be advertising? Affiliate Products? Your Own Products?
My advice to you is to keep experimenting till you find out what you’re good at. If you can design killer WordPress themes, than you do that, or maybe you’re great at writing eBooks, if so, then you do that! The problem with many beginners that want to make money online (me included), is that they don’t take advantage of what they’re good at and just want to copy the methods that are making others thousands a month. I don’t even know what I’m very good at, but that’s because I still haven’t tested out all the methods yet
Kara asked:
What kind of support do you receive offline to help your internet life thrive?
I don’t really know what you mean by that….
Swastik asked:
Hmm, How are you so good at getting comments? Friends
Since most people will usually only comment on the latest post, it’s always a good idea to put off publishing your next post till as late as possible. That way, everyone that will have wanted to have their say will already have commented on your post. These past days, I have been trying to publish my posts late at night to increase the number of comments they get, and it’s worked so far. Another good idea is to use the top commentators widget in your sidebar, ever since I started using it the number of comments my posts have gotten has significantly increased.
Ajith Edassery asked:
How serious are you with blogging and what?s the motive behind it? Is it only a hobby or something more serious (like fund generation for schooling, family etc)
I try to be as serious as possible with anything related to my blog, but only because I find that it’s the only way to accomplish my goals. A huge amount of free time that I didn’t know what to do with eventually led me to blogging, but the other motive behind me blogging is networking with new people and learning new things that will help me out in the future!
Graham asked:
I?ve got two questions.
1. What is your ultimate goal with your blog? Fortune, fame, a book deal?
2. Is grammar over rated? My grammar isn?t the best but I?m working on it. I?ve seen some blogs that are successful yet have poor grammar. How does that work?
1. Mmmm… I never really thought of that before. I guess that it would to build a helpful resource that all bloggers would eventually use and link to, kinda like Problogger. I also would like it to be a place where I can share all the things I learn with my readers and help out anybody that needs it
2. A certain level of grammar is important for the success of a blog, for example, people wouldn’t read a blog if they didn’t understand what was being written. However, the grammar of a blogger can never be used a factor to decide whether or not his blog will be successful. The success of your blog will depend mainly on the content you’re producing, if it’s good, then that’s what’s important. I have seen many successful blogs in many different niches that have tons of grammar mistakes within their posts, yet they don’t seem to be a problem. Your grammar looks OK, so don’t worry about it
The best questions was asked by Graham, please provide me with your URL and preferred anchor text so I can add your link to the sidebar
