Internet Ideas That Won’t Make You Rich
Everyday, thousands of new websites are started and claim to be the next big thing. I’d say that from every 10,000 websites created, only one is successful.
If hundreds of thousands of websites like yours already exist, then I don’t see why people would have any reason to start visiting yours. (Unless you’re giving out free Macbooks, of course.) Next time that million dollar idea pops into your head, try doing a bit of research to see if millions of other people have already thought of it before you.
To save you the time and effort, I created this list of some of the most common ideas on the internet. Make sure that your million dollar idea isn’t one of those below.
Get Rich Quick eBook
Internet users are getting smarter day by day, so stop trying to fool them and go do something useful with your life. I don’t have a problem with those offering their sucky eBooks for free, buy what I don’t like seeing is some loser trying to scam an innocent guy out of his hard earned money. Don’t get me wrong here, not all money making eBooks are bad, but those with the hyped up sales pages are the ones that automatically raise a red flag.
Selling A Million Pixels
The first to appear online was the “Million Dollar Homepage“, and it was the first and only to be completely sold out. Before you knew it, hundreds of others started appearing and everyone was selling pixels! Some tried to be different and reduced the price to 10 cents a pixel, but even then, they were not even close to reaching their goal. A search on Google for the term “buy pixels” gives you about 68,600 results. Just another great million dollar idea killed by all its clones.
Million Dollar Wiki
Graham Langdon, a university student in Connecticut came up with the “Million Dollar Wiki” which has made $120,000 to date. Basically, you buy your own wiki page for $100, put whatever you feel like on it, forgot about it for the rest of your life. There are a lot of different “versions” of it, for example: Quarter Wiki, Five Dollar Wiki, and Million Euro Wiki. I don’t think that this idea will ever be worth a million dollars, mainly because I don’t see the point of paying $100 for one page when there are thousands of free websites that allow you to create your own page for free.
Paid To Click Network
Networks that pay their users one cent for viewing an advertisement for 30 seconds. If you have ever joined or started one of these sites, then please explain to me how you made it succeed, if you did. A Google search for the term “paid to click” returns about 910,000 results, so be ready for some fierce competition. A perfect example of a total flop of these kinds of websites is Algoco, which supposedly payed its members to surf websites, although none ever received their cash. Even though they’re not exactly the same thing, both are similar ideas.
Please don’t make another clone of the above sites, it gets pretty annoying seeing them over and over again. Once again, please remind me if I forgot anything by leaving a comment below.

Thanks Rajaie,
It is such a useful post. And getting to see all those ideas fall over again and again makes one think that “Original, quality thinking is somewhere lost?”. But it still exists and I am quite sure that there will be exceptional ideas coming in the future as well.
Anyways, very nice post

Just a few days ago I saw this great website owned by Tyler Cruz, PublisherSpot.com
It’s a perfect example of how there are still many good undiscovered ideas out there.
The thing is, people did get rich from all of those ideas. However what it usually takes in an individual idea. Those have been done. So what are you going to do to leave your mark?
I’m sure everyone has that million dollar idea inside their heads, but it’s their job to find it
Nice list. Very useful post. Now a days you need to be more innovative to earn money.
i agree on some point… with regards to ebook, i can say i made some money from it and spent some… Though, mostly are junk I can say that some ebook really worth it… Ebooks from warriors forum have really helped me on some topics… paid to click are real busts, but some people are getting succesful w/get paid to websites… a great example is http://www.thenetfool.com/ ..
It varies at some point i can say…
The website you’re talking about, belonging to T.C, is really a very good idea and it is those type of innovative ideas which when copied time and again, come into lists like yours

Wat about Competiton, people try to start a competition and think it as a viral marketing idea!! (Yup,even i made a competition but for my ebook launch..)..They don’t work nowadays!
@Melvin, it’s true, there are some good ones out there, but I’m just talking about the majority.
@Rockstar Sid, also true, even the really big competitions don’t get the results they are expecting.
You won’t become rich if you’re not creative..
Some money making ebooks is good..
But must find the useful one and from the popular author..
man i think money is everything and i think most of us agreee

mostexpensivelink.com
@idm, no idea
ebook are ok some of them but at times they take a lot of space that slow down your pc, with their cookies that keep track of your movement. I just don’t know if this is good for the lil’ guy.
