How I Got A PageRank 3 In Less Than 2 Months

If you read my post yesterday about the Google PageRank update, then you now understand why having a high Google PageRank can be extremely beneficial to you. Even if you don’t plan on selling links once you acquire a high PageRank, there are a lot of things people will do merely for a simple link on a high PageRank website, use that fact to your advantage.

Since a PageRank update occurs every 2-3 months and recently happened a couple of days ago, that gives you (and me) plenty of time to increase your (and my) Google PageRank. My goal for the next PageRank update is to achieve a PageRank of 5 or above. I know that will be very difficult taking into account that some of the extremely successful blogs like Problogger and Shoemoney have a PageRank of 6, but hey, what’s the worst that could happen? :)

Anyway, these are the exact steps I have used to acquire a PageRank 3 and will be using to achieve my goal:

1. Search For Do-Follow Blogs
A simple Google search for the term “do-follow blogs” will return you enough results to guarantee your blog a few thousand incoming links. Just open all the results that seem suitable in new tabs and proceed to step two.

2. Use A Visual PageRank Checker
After opening all the suitable results in new tabs, you will notice that most are lists of do-follow blogs. To save yourself the time of opening all the do-follow blogs in new tabs and individually checking their PageRank, use iWebTool’s Visual PageRank checker to see the PageRank of all the blogs listed. Just input the URL of the website with the list of do-follow blogs in the URL field of the tool and press enter.

3. Choose The Highest Ranked Blogs
Open all the blogs that are PageRank 3 and above in new tabs, proceed to step four.

4. Make Sure That The Blogs Are Do-Follow
Just because the blogs you opened in new tabs were on a list of do-follow blogs, that doesn’t mean they are still do-follow. You never know, the blogger might have turned off do-follow for some reason or another. So just click on any post with at least one comment, then right click on the name of the commenter and click properties. If you see this in the “relation” attribute: “external nofollow”, or “nofollow”, close it and move on to another blog, else, keep the tab open and repeat the step on the other blogs opened.

6. Sort Out All Blogs Using Google Docs
Create a new spreadsheet using Google Docs and sort the blogs by lowest to highest PageRank, this isn’t required but can be really helpful in the future.

6. Use An Internal PageRank Checker To Find All The Internal Pages With A High PageRank
Even though a blog has a PageRank of 7, that does not mean all the posts you will comment on have the same PageRank. Use one of tools below to find posts with a high Google PageRank, no explanation needed. :)

The reason I listed three was that you are only allowed to run one query per hour using any of these tools, if you need any more, just Google the term “internal pagerank checker“.

7. Comment Like Crazy, In A Sane Way
After finding posts with a high PageRank, open all the URL’s in new tabs (or windows :P ) and comment on the posts. Remember to keep your comments normal and non-spammy, else they will be deleted and all your hard work washed down the drain.

Yes, it’s that simple, all it takes is a little time and patience. :)

I will be adding a list of do-follow blogs (very soon) with high PageRanks which I have personally checked out. If you have a do-follow blog with a high PageRank or know any high PageRank blogs that follow, please contact me and let me know, I’d really appreciate it. :D

  1. great tips. I will definately be using a few of those tools.

  2. This is such a simple technique, yet so many marketers are not searching for these blogs. Keep in mind that alot of blogging platforms default to nofollow commenting, so doing some research can save you valuable time.

Hey, I’d like to top your “DoFollow List”. My blog is very specific to my market but I welcome all non-spammy comment marketers and I’m looking forward to what you come with. Viva DoFollow!

  3. So what exactly are the advantages of having a higher page rank? Will it make you more money?
That is what I am really interested in

@Tom, thanks man, I’m glad you found them useful

@Len Estrada, I will be sure to add your blog to the list

@Ryan, well, since many services like Text-Links-Ads and ReviewMe take PageRak into account, yes, it can make you more money :)

  5. in my oppinion finding blogs in bulk just to increase your pagerank is not the way. i dind blogs i like (like yours and others) and just comment. if you want to visit mine that is fine. if not that is fine too ;)

  6. by Rajaie AlKorani at 3:11 pm on 28/07/08

@stratosg, but everyone wins! The blogger gets more comments and you get more links! :)

  7. Wow! I missed your last post but a great achievement Rajaie. I love your tips, and your blog and I do believe that a new star is shining bright! :D

@Swastik, thanks man, and good luck on on your new blog! :)

  9. Commenting on dofollow blogs takes hell lot of time.I never tried that coz sometimes it may be considered as spam by blog owners.. writing original content takes time and patience too ;-) U do have those qualities with you!

Sorry for my bad typing in the last post :(

BTW how did I gain PR 2 ? And how many friend gained PR 4 (pcsplace),he doesnt comment much..

This all depends on luck ;-) hehe

  10. Hi Rajaie thanx for the brilliant trick mate
I use to comment on many blogs (dofollow/nofollow) but never thought about
Checking page rank of individual post, but your post sounds like a surefire way to increase page rank with few extra steps.

@Rockestar Sid there is nothing called luck in cyber world your techniques and your optimization is your only bet if you want to survive in this cyber jungle

  11. I’ve known this trick for a while and it works. However, you also must make sure that your comment does contribute to the post’s topic, otherwise you’d be considered as a spammer and your commet would be wiped out.

    P. S.: Congratz for your PR3 :D

  12. by Rajaie AlKorani at 6:24 pm on 29/07/08

    @Rockstar Sid, I wouldn’t say entirely on luck, just a bit :P

@Sunil Pathak, sure thing, don’t mention it :D

@Ikki, most of the times, I try to make my comment humorous so it will be accepted, even if it has nothing to do with article in general

  13. Congrats dude !

  14. by Rajaie AlKorani at 7:31 pm on 29/07/08

    @Ram, thanks man

  15. Seems like spamming just for PR value. I am sure most blogs will convert to nofollow just because of such tactics employed by bloggers with no genuine motive to comment. What will happen when there are no dofollow blogs left? How to increase PR then?

  16. @Moserw read the whole post carefuly read every word and you will see Rajaie have warned you to not to post hyper or Spammy comments

and anyway this article is to help you get best out of what you do every day

PS: if no dofollow blogs left on cyber space then Bloggers will employ Black hat tactics

  17. by Rajaie AlKorani at 9:40 pm on 30/07/08

@moserw, it really is a matter of opinion, but if your comments add value then I see no problem with that ;)

    @Sunil Pathak, I wouldn’t expect that to happen… ever :)

  18. Hi Rajaie. I left a comment here a couple of days ago and for some reason I don’t see it here.
So… congrats on being named NBOTW over at BloggingWithoutABlog. And, congrats on your Google page ranking! That’s awesome.

  19. by Rajaie AlKorani at 12:19 am on 31/07/08

    @Davina, that’s weird, anyway, thanks :)

  20. @ Rajaie Me either but if it ever happens I wont mind doing what I said

BTW call me Sunil “Sunil Pathak” sounds too formal

  21. by Rajaie AlKorani at 4:06 pm on 31/07/08

    @Sunil Pathak, alright Sunil :)

  22. Make sure the blogs are in your niche and that you’re posting comments that make sense. PR is useless if your not getting any visitors.

Posting relevant comments will help raise your PR and your visitor count.

  23. by Rajaie AlKorani at 5:44 pm on 31/07/08

@Adam, most of the blogs I comment on are related to affiliate marketing, blogging, and making money online, so that’s a plus for me :)

  24. what does Do-follow mean?

  25. by Rajaie AlKorani at 6:55 pm on 01/08/08

@Ultra reviewer, that the link is taken into by Google and other search engines

  26. Even all the comments were helpful to me on this post. I love to learn something new and I sure did with this post. One list that has been very helpful to a beginner. Very clear. Thank you

  27. @Adam out of the niche blogs are worth checking too , you never know when some one will send you relevant traffic.

  28. This is a very helpful tip in gaining more links for your website. Thanks a lot for sharing. More power to you and your site.

  29. Great tips,
Really amazing wot you done with this blog - best wishes on pr 5

  30. Hello , great tips ..Want see more tips from you..Thanks

  31. Thank for the nice list of do-follow blogs. Really helpful.

  32. Some really good tips, I am going to try these out and see how they work.

  33. Interesting read. Just came over from TUK’s website. Nice post.

  34. Congratulations!
My two cents: to post fresh content everyday for 2 months. It’s not easy, but Google loves fresh contents. Also grab a “SEO all in one” plugin if you use WordPress, it certainly helps.

  35. Hey, congratz
I have another strategy which I use, but it does involve blogs

  36. by Rajaie AlKorani at 12:32 pm on 02/09/08

    Hey Patricia,
I enjoy reading the comments on blogs as well, you can learn some pretty neat things from them as well

    Hey Sunil Pathak,
That’s true, you might get some traffic from unrelated niche blogs, but the question is how much of that traffic will convert into readers? :D

    Hey Vhic Hufana,
I’m glad you found it useful :)

    Hey Sabeur,
I don’t think I’ll be getting a PR5 as I’ve been slacking off in the link building, but you never know!

    Hey encikbeliau,
    You’re welcome :)

    Hey Emily Summerhouse,
Sure thing, I’ll be updating it ever once in a while, so be sure to check back :)

    Hey chiefbutz,
Hopefully they will be as helpful to you as they were to me :)

    Hey Otooo,
Would you mind sharing that strategy with me? :)

  37. Congrats , one of my site has a similar update recently , it was 2 months and got a PR 2 with the recent update. Link build like crazy is the message to get a good PR and sustain it

  38. by Rajaie AlKorani at 11:23 am on 10/09/08

    Hey WebTrafficROI,
Sadly I haven’t been able to build as many links as I’d like to have these past couple of weeks, hopefully my PageRank will remain the same and not drop…

  39. Thanks for the helpful advice, do you also use anchor text of your site, or just your name? If you use you actual name I think the approval rate is higher, whera with Anchor you are also helping to build your SEO, and SERP results. Let me know. Thanks

  40. by Rajaie AlKorani at 1:51 pm on 16/09/08

    Hey Carl,
Although you do have a point, I think that as long as your comment isn’t spam then it will be approved no matter what anchor text you use. And yes, it does help more in improving your SERP results

  41. congratz for ur pr.

  42. Nice Blog! Congrats on your PR and your layout, traffic and subscribers. This is something good keep it up.

  43. Thank’s for the tips. I don’t want to be a spammer, so I’m not going to just go comment random irrelevant blogs, but if I do come across high ranking blogs that interest me, I definitely always comment them.

My blog is new (only a week old), so I don’t even think I have a PR yet. lol.

  44. We spend most of our time in a alternate online world - where the rules seem to keep evolving and etiquette keeps up with these rules. I take a view that the online and offline world are effectively the same. (They are after all!) Plus, they’re converging all the time as we are all effectively animals and our animal instinct is what drives us and what forms the rules we all want to live within.

In a past life I worked as an IFA. Part of my working week would involve going out and networking. So we’d trot off to a bar, chat with other professionals and meet new people. sometimes we chatted about work, sometimes we chatted about irrelevant stuff.

Now if I chatted to someone intelligently, with a modicum of wit and interest, my reward be a “contact” however tenuous for the future. One day down the line our paths would cross, or I would be able to refer someone else onto them etc.

If I had gone up to them and said nothing which added to the conversation, I would be instantly forgotten.

Now, if I comment intelligently, add something to the post, then being reward with a link in somewhere on the page shouldn’t be too much to ask. If there is no link, then there is no point. I scratch your back, you scratch mine.

Now the page rank of a page is of secondary importance to me. You never now that page may one day come good just like the chap in the real world may one day put big business your way.

  45. I’ve been starting to do this recently, and I saw results soon after I started. By the way, your top commentators plugin is awesome :D.

  46. i ll need to review your post in detail to rank higher

  47. I didn’t do most of the steps although I also reached page rank 3 in less than 60 days. I guess it also helps when forums are also dofollow (I am ‘everywhere”!)

One more thing I would like to add is TRY to comment in blogs that are of similiar content to yours. I was told commenting in a blog that has a dofollow but is not related to your blog is a no-no for Google. I broke this “law” as my interests are varied - I post everywhere!

Now I am wondering if I woulda reached page Ranking 4 faster if I commented only in blogs of similiar topic to mine! What do you think?

  48. by Rajaie AlKorani at 6:28 pm on 08/11/08

Kelly - Definitely. Commenting on 10 related blogs is more useful than commenting on 1,000 non-related blogs.

  49. You methods are implemented by people all around the blog sphere. But it is feasible to get a PR by hurriedly gaining back links…which might only signal a flag with SE’s in the long run?

  50. hope this help me to increase my rank

  51. I’ve only got a page rank of 2 myself, I have have noticed some people are willing to do a few things just for a link on my blog. I’ve been contacted several times for a few free mascot designs which are pretty kool.

  52. Yes, that’s the way I’m trying enforce for my new site themondey.info
Hope you could drop by and comment :)

    Dinh Trung
    themondey.info

  53. Im actually trying this for myself, but I am having trouble finding good do-follow blogs. (other than your list)

  54. Thank you Rajaie for confirming what i thought was “right”! :)

@RockstarKid,”Finding dofollow blogs and commenting…takes a hell of a lot of time.”

Not necessarily. Visit my blog where I reveal 3 tools that will help you. You only need to use just one of them to find blogs of DoFollow (blog ranking is also shown besides the blogs found) to cut 70% of the time needed to find blogs by page rank manually!

Always remember GOOD STUFF comes with a little effort!

@Forsaken Google does not penalise upon how fast you gain your backlinks unless your text links are hidden, and unless most of your content is nothing but keywords with no real content for visitors.

  55. Wow! Wonderful post, this is something that I didn’t know about but have to say a huge THANK YOU! for enlightening me. I’m going to focus the next two months on doing exactly what you said in your post which should take less than 15 minutes per day and I’m sure will bring POSITIVE results. Thanks again and good luck in the future!

  56. i am running 2 blogs.
IT blog reached PR3 from 0 in 2 months and
Finance blog reached PR3 from 0 in 1 month

i did not comment like crazy. But there are high PR blogs that link to me.
