Do Comments Have To Add Value?
It seems to me that whenever bloggers talk about comments, they all seem to agree on one thing; comments should add value to the conversation. However, I have never fully agreed with that. To me, it makes no sense.
Why should your comment be a paragraph long when all you want to do is tell the blogger how much you liked his post, or that you agree with him? To make it worse, some blogs have a comment policy which tells you how your comment should be, or else it won’t get published. I know that some blogs might get thousands of spammy comments without this policy, but I’m sure that things can be done to prevent that from happening.
Comments are for people to voice their opinion, and if they think that you wrote a nice article, then fine! That’s why it’s called a comment, so your readers are able to give you their opinion. Why should you have to tell them what to write or in what style it should be written?
But when all your comments start looking exactly alike, that is when you become a spammer. So for me, all that matters is that your comments reflect your true opinion.
What do you think comments should be like?

True … a comment is a comment not a speech on how much they can lick your ass. Although comments add value to a blog … and i know people get depressed when no one comments, but they need to understand that comments are not everything.
A comment like you said is a reflection of an opinion … nothing more.
